_______________________________________________Subject: Snow in and near NMTom and Louise Broadbent, Angela Welford, and Randy Simons took an impromptu trip to Chama Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week. As there has not been any new snow in the Jemez for some time, we went north in search of snow. Monday we drove to Chama and skied the trail to Spruce Hole yurt. Tom had been there the previous week and the snow was great. There had been plenty of skiers on the trail but the conditions were wonderful. Picture - Angela and Louise just beyond Spruce Hole Yurt.
The second day we skied on the trail to Grouse Creek yurt. The snow looked to be three feet deep in some areas. Picture - Angela on the trail to Grouse Creek yurt.
The last day we packed up and drove south to HWY 64 to ski in the Carson National Forest. We parked at a trailhead between mile markers 202 and 203. We skied on FR 1892 and 1893. Again we found excellent snow conditions. There was only one section of roadbed that had burned off a bit, but there was still snow to ski on. Picture below - Angela, Tom, and Randy skiing FR 1892. Happy Trails. Louise Broadbent
