Thanks for the report and the photos.  FR144B did look like a beautiful route to take, with fresh snow.  Might you be able to estimate how much new snow with the storms these past few days?

Tom and Lynda Katonak joined Tom and I for a ski in Jemez.  We had skied on Fenton Hill (FR 144) the day before and it was excellent, so we attempted to return today.  When we arrived there was a truck unloading 2 snowmobiles.  We asked if there were more coming and we were informed there would be six.  We were told there were some good trails on the other side of the highway so we set off heading south off HWY 126.   We quickly ran out of trail and returned to 144.  Since the snowmobiles were planning to go at least 10 miles in to remove a tree from the road, we decided to ski there.  We tried to make trails to the side of the road bed and it was still great snow.  We then turned west on FR 144B.  We did not know where it went but it was beautiful.  We went about a mile and then the road intersected HWY 126.  We returned on the same road and then continued further north on FR 144.  We were looking for a particular loop and we think we have found it for another tour.  The temperature stayed around 28 degrees and the snow became heavier in the afternoon.  I would not recommend this trail for morning skiing as the snowmobile tracks will leave a lot of icy ridges.  The pictures are from our ski on FR 144B.  Happy Trails, Louise Broadbent
