What a great day yesterday!!  Thanks so much to Barry who spent nearly all day helping us students with tele technique.  It was priceless and I dare say we all have a lot of different things to focus on depending on where we are all at individually.  That was the beauty of small, personalized instruction.  James and I made the commitment this year to ditch alpine for tele.  I find the technique beautiful and guess what?  I don’t have much to unlearn as I was never a great alpine skier to begin with!  I still remember the day a year ago that I rented a kit from KAFB rec center.  I clumsily put on the skins and skinned up a short way of the beginner area at Sandia.  I tried over and over again and just couldn’t figure out that illusive turn.  I spent that afternoon putting on and taking off the skins trying and trying to teach myself tele.  Tears of frustration and exhaustion set in as I called it a day.  I’m not one to give up so the next time I rented them I got a lift ticket so that I could solely focus on technique.  Things began to click and I started to feel the flow and beauty that is tele.  I’ve come a long way since that day of frustration, but I still have a long way to go!  I’m thankful that I have some new tools to use to help my crappy right turn!  Thanks Barry!  Would love to see you rip up moguls some time!
