Greetings all,
I drove up to Sante Fe today and skied the Norski Trail. I saw the snow report for Ski Sante Fe and it showed an amazing new 21 inches! Hmmm. Norski looked like maybe 6 or so. Maybe the ski report was for at the very top of the mountain? I skied the loop twice in order to make the drive time up there worth it. I’d say conditions were average. The new snow was a blessing but by the time I started my ski it was 12:30 and nearly 40 degrees. I hit the Maxiglide right off the bat. Snow felt heavy and slow but there were areas where it was difficult to control the skies due to sinking and inconsistent speeds. Slushy and thin areas caused a lot of caution on descents. There were some exposed rocks and sticks. Beautiful area!!!! I was hoping for better conditions but oh well. I noticed the sign that asked only skiers to use the trail. Sure would be nice if people would pay attention to that stuff. On my return to the parking lot there was about 10 tourists sledding down the Outbound entrance to the ski trail. One woman was laying down in the return trail and I had to ski around her. I mentioned to them that the trail use is only for skiing. They looked at me like I had a tin foil hat that suddenly sprouted antennas! I skipped skiing Aspen Vista as I didn’t feel conditions were all that great and there were a lot of stompers. Probably my last effort for the season.
