Hello new skiers,
We are tentatively planning the beginners’ on-the-snow lesson for Saturday, Jan. 8 at Ellis trailhead in the Sandias. If not enough snow, we’ll try for Jan. 22.
Please email me to sign up and include your cell phone for any last-minute communications.
Many people prefer to borrow or rent gear to get started. The club’s beginner instruction page has a link for rental options in ABQ. Link below.
While waiting for snow, please check out these resources;
1) NMCCSC Beginner Instruction Page:
https://nmccskiclub.org/instruction/beginner-instruction/
(Dates haven’t been updated, but the content is great.)
At the top of this page, go to “Short cut to On-the-Snow videos.” These are helpful videos posted by our fantastic 2020-21 instruction Chair, Jim W!
Also at the top of the page, see “Link to 2020 Classroom Session”.
2) Virtual Classroom session to cover basics, anyone? I’ve had difficulty scheduling a classroom session- it would be very similar to the 2020 classroom session, but I think having a time to connect with others and ask questions is helpful.
If folks are interested, would Tuesday, Jan. 4 work for you?
I can also be available this Friday evening, 12/17; Monday 12/20 or Tuesday 12/21 via phone or Zoom if anyone has more immediate questions.
Also, Ruth (a past Instruction Chair) has offered to help people select rental gear. Let me know and I’ll put you in contact.
Feel free to email or text me with questions.
Let it snow!
