Greetings Friends and Members of Sandia Nordic,

I wanted to let everyone know that I spoke with Mike Ritterhouse, General Manager of the Enchanted Forest CCSA, this afternoon to get an update on how they are doing, how plans to address the devastation that EFCCSA experienced from last week's high winds are progressing, and how Sandia Nordic can help.  The following bullet points summarize my discussion with Mike:

  • EFCCSA is close to finalizing the creation of a crowd sourced fundraising site, which will either be a Go Fund Me or Indiegogo page.  They will be announcing the launch of the campaign on their Facebook page and their website in the next few days.  If you are interested in helping Enchanted Forest financially, I would encourage you to keep an eye out for the announcement and make a donation.
  • Their insurance company is still assessing the damage and what will be covered by their claim.
  • Regarding volunteering to help with the trail work that will be necessary for them to get back on line, the EFCCSA Management Team will be meeting on January 2nd to draft a phased approach to the work.  They will be making a formal announcement shortly after the 2nd to let volunteers know exactly what they can do and when the volunteering opportunities will be available.  I will make sure to stay in close contact with EFCCSA regarding these opportunities and will broadcast them out to our group email.  We will also post on our social media sites.
  • Unfortunately, EFCCSA is not able to offer lodging to volunteers.  Mike did say that if anyone has an RV and would like to camp in the area, that would be an option.

The Enchanted Forest has been the premier Nordic Ski Area in New Mexico for over 30 years and last week's wind event has been devastating.  Please keep your eyes out for future communications related to the above and consider helping in any way that you can.

Thank you, and I hope you enjoy the Holidays.

Scott
