FREE Telemark lessons at Ski Santa Fe on Saturday, Feb 26
With this week’s storm and another in the forecast for the middle of next week, conditions should be excellent!
If you are interested after reading thru this message and want to reserve a slot, either reply back to me directly [no need to reply to the entire group] or text/call me at [505] Two 38-812 three.
I will put out another mid-week announcement to confirm this event.
A limited group will ensure a quality experience for everyone.
Some specifics:
Please try to show up in backcountry or plastic boots and metal-edged skis, which will facilitate faster learning. If you have the option, leave the waxless skis at home. Unless you have KAFB access or a friend to borrow from, your rental choices in NM are unfortunately zilch.
Everyone is welcome to attend both sessions, however… From 10am-noon, the focus will be on beginner/intermediate level skiers. Intermediate and up, 1-3 pm. I really try to challenge each person individually, no matter what your skill level.
You will be a lot more comfortable if you can load/unload from a chairlift and have previous experience skiing at a ski area.
Although the lessons are free, you will still need to purchase a lift ticket/pass and be a NMCCSC member in good standing. I would suggest a full day ticket. An advance purchase secures your ticket. For ticket info: https://skisantafe.com/
Come with an open mind and a willingness to try something new. A good attitude guarantees you will have fun. Learning to tele is a true continuum, which seemingly never seems to end. If it was easy, it wouldn't be worth doing, right?
This year, I will try to break down the key skills necessary to Tele safely, proficiently and have fun in the process.
Meeting times and location: Meet at the flat area adjacent to the main base quad chair, ready to ski at 10am and/or 1pm. I’ll look like the guy who always celebrates Halloween, in an orange jacket and black pants.
Once again, please respond back to my e-mail below [please do not reply to all] or text/call my cell phone [505] Two 38-812 three. I'm also more than happy to chat if you're on the fence or need/want additional information.
Let it snow,

*About me - I first started to Tele in '81, the year we moved to Albuquerque. Young and dumb, I taught myself to Tele by the grace of other pinheads, much more skilled than I, who were nice enough to allow me tag along. Earning my PSIA Telemark Instructor certification has allowed me to share my passion with others for over three decades.
