Hello Skiers,

On Sunday, February 5, Michael Arndt and Sam Beard will lead a Class II (More Difficult) ski outing to the East Fork East Loop area in the Jemez Mountains.

From Los Griegos Mountain parking area, we will cross NM-4 and follow a couple of short trails up to a saddle on East Fork Ridge. From here, we will ski clockwise the 1-2 mile loop on old roads at the end of the ridge. We usually have lunch on top the ridge  with views across a former pumice mine to mountains like Los Griegos on the south rim of the Valles Caldera.

After completing the loop back at the saddle, we will ski approximately 1 mile back to the vehicles by following the East Fork Ridge Trail and part of Mistletoe Canyon Trail.

Meet at 8 am on the west side of the Target store parking lot southeast of the intersection of I-25N and Paseo del Norte.

Bring ski equipment, warm gloves, sun glasses, sun screen, lunch, snacks, drinks, and MaxiGlide and wear warm clothes. MaxiGlide is applied to the skis to help prevent ice sticking to the bottom of the skis. Ice forms on the bottoms of skis when one skis through cold snow and then through warm melting snow. When enough snow and ice builds up  on ski bottoms, the skis will not slide.

We will carpool and arrive at the trailhead at about 10 am.

Please call or email me if you have questions.
