Hi Skiers- In reponse to Gil's report, Jean Payne of FOSM sent a map of the area being thinned around Tree Spring TH. Indeed, it shows the part of Challenge that is affected north of Tree Spring Trail. Jean reports that the area south of this area is open. As indeed also the junction with 10k that is uphill to the east.

For your safety, please enjoy the many other trails on the mtn for the time being. The FS and FOSM will get it cleaned up and safe as soon as possible. See map. Meanwhile, I'm getting my skis out! (...they were never put away...) Bet
