Subject: [NMCCSC] Fwd: [Sandia Nordic Ski Club] Crest Road Update Thursday, January 11, 11:00 AM_______________________________________________Here's the latest, good synopsis by Scott Dietrich, just out. I would love to go up the new Challenge trail out of Doc Long/Bill Spring, goes by Tree Spring and the base of the ski area. The rest of it is a long aerobic climb to Ellis, think safety. Thanks, Scott. Bet---------- Forwarded message ---------

Subject: [Sandia Nordic Ski Club] Crest Road Update Thursday, January 11, 11:00 AM
To: Sandia Nordic Ski Club <sandia-nordic-ski-club@googlegroups.com>--Hi Everyone,I spoke with Eugene and a Bernalillo County Deputy Sheriff this morning. Here is the summary:
- The Crest Road is open to Doc Long, but closed the rest of the way up.
- NM DOT continues to work on the road, but as mentioned yesterday, they are dealing with huge drifts up top which is making for slow progress. Today's Crest Road DOT work shift will be from noon to midnight.
- There is another storm moving through today. Not a ton of snow is predicted, however there is a prediction for very high winds up top which will compound the drifting. FYI, here is a good website that forecasts the winds and wind chills at various altitudes. As you can see from this site, the winds are supposed to be 58 mph out of the west from 9k-12k.
- It will likely be at least another couple of days before the road to 10K and Ellis will be opened.
I will check back with Eugene tomorrow around noon for another update.Looking forward to seeing you up on the snow when we can get there!Scott--Scott Dietrich<SNSC_Logo_Horizontal_FORMAT.jpg>
