Last week Brittany Leffel, Winter Wildlands Alliance, posted the following USFS information on the NM Cross Country Ski Club Facebook page.  The notification is in regard to the US Forest Service Over Snow Travel Management Project addressing increased snowmobile usage in the Rio Grande National Forest.  Areas affected include Spruce Hole, Neff and Grouse Yurts locations.   

Since last week, 3 public meetings have taken place.  Two more are scheduled next week on June 5th  and June 6th.  June 6th meeting will be held in South Fork online via Zoom and is open to the public.  Link to Zoom meeting is listed below and highlighted in yellow.  The link to submit comments to the US Forest Service is  listed below by visiting the project page and scroll down to Get Connected.

The first two public meetings on our Over Snow Travel Management Project are this week!

On Wednesday, May 29 the meeting is in Alamosa from 6 -7 pm
• Alamosa Recreation Center
• 2222 Old Sanford Rd, Alamosa, CO  81101

On Thursday, May 30 the meeting is in Antonito/Conejos, from 6-7 pm
• Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Hall
• 6633 CO Rd 113, Antonito, CO  81111

We will be presenting the highlights of the proposed action and will take questions from the public. Official comments will not be accepted during the meetings and must be submitted online. Next week’s meetings will be in Saguache on June 5 and in South Fork on June 6.
