With the drive to the Sandias being questionable, Nancy and I XC skied Pajarito today. The skiing conditions were very good and it was quite warm making a comfortable ski. Folks from the Southwest Nordic Club were out in full force putting up shade fences and grooming the lower trails. They are off to a good season. It is hard to say how this snow will hold up with the warm weather but if it does, they will have a great base.

Being on the way from Albuquerque to the Jemez and especially Valles Caldera, Pajarito is a great XC ski option. It’s easy to get to, free, they have great trails, and you can stop into the downhill ski lodge (where you’ll park) for food or other needs. On questionable days, you can stop there on your way to the Jemez and either get your fix if it’s good or drive on up hill into the Jemez if not. I’ve put some links to their club and Facebook page below in case others wish to follow.
