South Peak Fire Update

Location: Sandia Ranger District - East side of Sandia Mountains, East of South Peak

Resources on enroute: Type 3 Helicopter, 2 Type 6 USFS Engines

Strategy: The strategy for the South Peak Fire is full suppression.

Evacuations: NO Evacuations are currently in effect

Values at risk: There are no values currently at risk

Containment: 0%

Fuels: Heavy Timber, Grass and Brush

Fire behavior: Low/minimum fire behavior

Weather: Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41. East wind around 5 mph becoming south after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Thursday: A slight chance of showers between 9am and noon, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 61. Light and variable wind becoming north 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 50%.
