Thank you for this email. My husband and I have been hiking in this area and noticing how many dead trees there are. And how many have fallen down taking others with them. Wondering how that would be if we were underneath.

Hi Skiers & Hikers-  Sandia Ranger District, using FOSM crews and others, will be working to remove many large hazard trees on the upper Crest trails and Kiwanis areas, plus some of the trailheads- Tree Spring, Pine Flats.  There is also a mastication project for reforestation planned for Switchback trail area down to Ellis, so- big machinery.

Crews are ultimately concerned for our safety so they will be giving direction for protection of our life and limb, and theirs, as we interface in these work areas.  See you out there, carefully!
