6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Main Library

145 Washington Ave, Santa Fe, NM 87501

Avalanche Awareness is a free class offered by the non-profit Friends of the San Juans. FOSJ is a Colorado-based grassroots collective committed to creating a safe and educated community of winter backcountry users. This class provides an overview of avalanche safety principles, with an emphasis on recognizing and avoiding avalanche-prone slopes. If you recreate in mountainous terrain in wintertime, this class will increase your awareness of avalanche terrain, help you identify signs of rising danger, and offer techniques for traveling safely.
