Yes, three items to take note of-  The Tram/Restaurant closure, and by now you may have heard of the Forest Service closure of the top of the mtn in two phases:

1.  The Tram and Ten 3 Restaurant will be closed for Spring Maintenance this April 7 thru April 21.

2.  “Switchback” Hazard Tree and Fuel Reduction Project -  from April 2026 thru Fall of 2026, the upper mtn above 10K Parking Lot will be closed for fire mitigation projects.  I invite you to study the map in the link carefully10K Trails north and south will be open, according to the map, but beware if one were to connect north with the loved Ellis, Survey, and no. Crest Trails, there will be no way to return to the 10K parking lot- access will be cut off from those trails before hiway 536 is reached, much heavy work there!

3.  Sandia Crest Recreation Area Renovation Project - The Sandia Crest House will be taken down starting in Spring 2026, and preparation work done for complete reconstruction of the site in Summer 2027According to the KRQE announcement below, plans are for everything to be open Fall '26 thru Spring '27.  We'll have to watch for updates.  I was hoping for a café for hot dogs but 'No'.  The FS site in the link is very informative.
