≈≈≈≈ANNOUNCEMENT #1 Al Naples Status Report from his youngest daughter, Alyce  ≈≈≈≈

 Dear Bob, 
     Thank you so much for the list of 1961 graduates you sent to my father.
     I am sad to say that dad will not be able to utilize it since he is now residing in a nursing home in Orleans, MA.
     He abruptly went from a very vital, energetic 93 yr old man to a person who now sits in a wheelchair, unable to walk and unable to carry on conversation. 
     It began in late November brought on by a fall off a step ladder which spiraled to pneumonia. Dad had been told in late March that his Hairy Cell Leukemia had resurfaced and he had chosen to fight it by taking a chemotherapy drug. He was doing well through the spring and summer but all the while developing neuropathy in his legs. Dad was always a man who was on the go, taking full time care of his 93 year old wife Rose. It was hard to slow him down but the fall did just that! The pneumonia set in and his CO2 level rose extremely high and he experienced quite a bout with delirium and has never really come back since then.
     I thank you for the list and am sorry you never had dad as a teacher but I remember Walter Grant very well and he also was a very fine man. Dad always knew the right people to hire.
     It has taken me since December 5th to come to terms with the person who is now my dad but I will tell you his smile is still bright.
     Thank you again for contacting dad. I just wanted you to  know the reason why he was not returning your wishes. If he could, I know for a fact, he would have called you and had a lengthy conversation about Riverdell. He had them with me and his memories for the most part were grand,especially the kids!
