Bob, I just forwarded the following information to some of Miss Ev's friends.  Feel free to share it. I don't know when she taught physical education, but it was many years ago. She did teach at RD for quite a while so you probably know her.

Jan's brother called me this morning about some paperwork.  It seems Jan called a neighbor because she was too weak to get out of bed.  She helped her out to get to the bathroom.  Shortly thereafter she passed out.  The neighbor felt no pulse, called 911, they got the heart beating again, but she was basically brain dead because she had been deprived of oxygen.  She had a do-not-resuscitate document, but no one saw it.  She will be cremated and the remains will be buried next to her mother in the George Washington Cemetery in Paramus.  They will have a church service--she was very active in the church.  I sent a donation to the church: Lakewood Park United Methodist Church, 5405 Turnpike Seeder Road, Ft. Pierce, FL 34951.  A card may be sent to her brother, E. Richard Everett, 34 Azul, Ft. Pierce, FL 34951-2801.

Jan had not been well for a few years following by-pass surgery.  Thereafter, she was dependent on an oxygen supply.  She walked around the house with a long hose attached to a large tank.  When she left the house, she used a smaller portable tank with a four-hour supply of oxygen.  I think she was about 87.
She was a great friend who was helpful and generous to all.
