Greetings all River Dell Grads aka "Teen-iors"Here we are at the end of another year, (whew that went fast!), hope you all have a great holiday season. Try not to over indulge; easy to put on the pounds, HARD to take them off. Ok, here' what's up.Our Snowbird Reunion is schedule for Friday, March 3rd thru Sunday, March 5th, the location will again be St. Augustine as we agreed at our reunion last year. It's a great location with tons of stuff to do, so plan to attend whether you were with us last year or have not attended before. We would love to see some of the "younger" grads begin to attend to give longevity to the event.Last years hotel worked out well, but their rates went up significantly from $89 to $119 this year and they would not throw in the conference room they graciously gave us last year. As you know it was 20 min to downtown which was a bit far and hinder our return later in the day. This year we will be staying at a great property, the Southern Oaks Inn, which is only a mile and a half from down town! This will open up our options for the weekend with a great rate of $109 a night. This is a very highly rated motel with a full breakfast buffet and very nice rooms. We will be able to use the very large and nice breakfast room for our evening gatherings at no cost. Check them outwww.southernoaksinnstaug.com. To make your reservations, call (904) 342-2354. Based on previous years, I am reserving 12 rooms. I will give you the cut-off date in a future email.
Here's the bonus . . . . the Red Train Trolley stops right across the street from the motel, so no need to drive downtown, and find parking, jump on jump off, $21 tickets are for three days, very nice, right!Regarding Friday evening dinner: although we LOVED The Caddy Shack last year, we will be having dinner at "The Beaches" on Friday evening. Check them out (menu, etc) atwww.beachesatvilano.com. Yep, right on the beach, very nice menu, very highly rated and beautiful view of the sunset.(hope it's not cloudy) To experience the sunset, which is at 6:30 on March 3rd, we need to leave the motel by 5:45pm, latest, so plan to arrive early enough. (It's only a couple of minutes from the motel.) If you get there later, use your GPS to find the restaurant at 254 Vilano Rd, Vilano Beach, Fl.
We can plan our Saturday activities when we gather together back at the motel. I think we should definitely include a stroll down St. George St. and have lunch either at Pizza Alley, the same great restaurant we ate at last year, or another we might agree on. We then could easily take the trolley back to the motel for a time of rest and return later that afternoon and for dinner at another nice restaurant. Again, rather than me planing those details, we can discuss and decide as a group, since there are so many options. We gather together for some wine, cheese and crackers Saturday evening, and whatever. Sunday breakfast together and home we go.OK, there's most of the information you will need to make your plans for our upcoming Snowbird Reunion. This will again be a memorable time to enjoy the company of other River Dell grads. Some you will know well, while you will also gain some new friends from back home.Don't procrastinate! Just do it! You have plenty of time to work this into your schedule and finances. You will not be disappointed. Finally, I would like to have an accurate count, so sent me a quick email of your plan to attend. 4runner4him@gmail.comYou can also email me with questions you might have.Looking forward to seeing you all. Stay safe, stay healthy.Eddie Neubert
