Hello Everyone:
Today, Monday, July 13, 2020, the FOSM Trails Maintenance Crew hiked Acequia trail from the Cienega PA access road to Armijo trail, up Armijo to Faulty and south on Faulty to the Bart's Trail junction and return to remove fallen trees. Tree reports were
rather ambiguous and simply indicated that there were "several trees down on Faulty south of Armijo".
There was one eight-inch diameter tree fallen at about waist high across Faulty south of the Canoncito Trail junction. This tree was removed by Rav with a single cut. It was the only tree removed today. The crew used crosscut saws and other hand tools. The
remaining fallen trees on Faulty must be located south of the Bart's trail junction. That is work for a later time when the weather is cooler. As of mid-day today, all these hiked trail sections are clear.
The skies were clear to partly cloudy and there was little or no wind, until the crew had just returned to the Cienega PA parking lot. A breeze would have been helpful during the hike. It was already a bit warm when the hike started at about 7:30 am and
got much warmer as the day progressed. Anyone hiking at the lower elevations now should be prepared for hot July weather and plan accordingly.
Due to current COVID-19 group size restrictions, the crew was divided into two teams. Team 1 consisted of Rav Nicholson, Byron Garner, Sim Cook and Cleve Sharp. Team 2 consisted of Bob Lowder, Jerry Pekarek and Sim Cook.
