Greetings,

On Tuesday, July 21, 2020, a FOSM team of Don Carnicom, Sam Beard, and Dan Benton replaced four Scenic Byway Autotour numbered signs that had become damaged by sun exposure.  Most old bolts had to be removed with hack saws and replaced.  Pat and Dan Benton had earlier identified which of the 20 signs needed to be replaced, and Don Carnicom had prepared replacement signs.

Thanks to Mike Coltrin and Don Carnicom, the Guidebook that was prepared some years ago by the US Forest Service, the New Mexico Museum of Natural History, and the Turquoise Trail Association to accompany the numbered signs is now available as a free download from the FOSM website, www.friendsofthesandias.org/projects. Mike has also added the Visitor Recreation Guide as a free download at www.friendsofthesandias.org/recreation

In addition to sign replacement, the team also removed some brush obscuring a sign and strengthened a loose sign post.  Attached photos of the work show sign #8 at Doc Long and sign #12 at Dry Camp, before and after.
