Hello Everyone:

Yesterday, August 3, 2020, the FOSM Trail Maintenance Crew hiked all of Switchback, Buried Cable, Gravel Pit and Rocky Point trails to remove previously reported fallen trees. Five trees were removed from Rocky Point and two were removed from Switchback. The fallen trees ranged in size from four to fifteen inches in diameter. Some minor trail tread work was also done including the removal of an exposed root tripping hazard located on the walk-around at the base of the root ball of a huge fallen spruce on Upper Switchback. As of midday yesterday, all these trails were clear.

In accordance with USFS COVID protocol, the crew was divided into two teams. Team One started on Rocky Point and Team Two started on Switchback. Team One consisted of Jim Levesque, Jerry Pekarek, Rav Nicholson, Sim Cook and Bill Savage. Team Two consisted of David McCreery, Byron Garner, Cleve Sharp and Bob Lowder.

The morning was cool with a very light breeze, warming only slightly by mid-morning. All the trails were moist from the previous day's rains. As has become the norm, the trailhead parking lots were packed by 11:00 am.
