Hello Everyone:
Yesterday, Monday, August 10, 2020, the FOSM Trails Maintenance Crew hiked Crest Trail 130 North to the 10K North Junction, 10K down to a point about midway between the Survey and Ellis junctions and then back out Survey Trail. The hike began and ended
at the Ellis parking lot. A total of five dead fallen trees were removed, ranging in size from five to twelve inches in diameter. (Two from 10K North and three from Survey.) Details can be found in the attached Word file. As of Monday afternoon, these trails
and trail section are now clear.
The morning was clear and cool with little breeze. As the day progressed, it got warmer fast. Breezes were light by the afternoon. Forest conditions still look fairly good in the higher shaded areas, but the mountain is starting to dry out. Oddly, when
the crew left in the early afternoon, the mountain was much less crowded than it had been all summer. The parking lots looked more like a typical pre-COVID Monday.
Please see attached Word document for photos and additional narrative.
Monday's two-team crew consisted of Byron Garner, Rav Nicholson, Jerry Pekarek, Jim Levesque, David McCreery and Bob Lowder.
