Hello All,
Due to the weather forecast for this week, I have postponed the usual Wednesday project to
Thursday, Oct. 29. We will return to Cienega Canyon Picnic Area to continue replacing broken fence poles with the recently purchased 10-foot poles.
Bring battery-powered reciprocating saws with steel-cutting blades and battery drills. Also, bring wrenches, socket sets, large chisels, hammers, and carpentry tools. Pruning
saws will also be handy for cutting notches in the posts and poles.
We need a pickup to haul several 10-foot 4-inch treated poles from Don Carnicom’s house to the picnic areas, if Don is not available.
The crew will be divided into teams of 5 or fewer volunteers each.
We will meet at
8:30 AM at the FOSM Guard Station behind the Ranger Station to collect equipment and supplies and present the JHA (Job Hazard Analysis).
Wear long pants, long sleeve shirt, and sturdy boots with slip-resistant soles. Bring a face mask, lunch, snacks, lots of water, hard hat, eye and ear protection,
and work gloves. If you do not have a hard hat, one will be provided. We will travel to the work site with just one person in each vehicle unless some volunteers are in the same family.
Wear warm clothes for the winter weather we are having this week.
If the weather or snow conditions in Cienega PA are unsafe on Thursday, the project will be cancelled.
