Hello Everyone,
On Tuesday, Dec. 1, five FOSM volunteers removed the large spruce down on Kiwanis Meadow Road just north of the junction with the South Crest Trail.
The 23-inch diameter tree was diagonally across the road. After the limbs were cut, the trunk was bucked into 52 rounds. Each round was 12 inches in length so that they were not too heavy to move. The rounds will be split later and hauled to the donation pile at the hazmat building.
The undisturbed snow depth was about 4 inches, but on the road the snow had been packed down by hikers.
Photos of the project are presented in the attached Word document.
The volunteers were Dennis Crowther, Cliff Giles, Jerry Carroll, Lou Romero, and Sam Beard.
