Hello FOSM Volunteers,

On Wednesday, May 5, FOSM volunteers will be working on four tasks in the Doc Long, Cienega, and Sulphur PAs.

  1. Felling hazard trees in Doc Long PA – Leader: Bob Lowder. We have six oak hazard trees to fell in this picnic area.
  2. Repair fence near Doc Long Shelter A – Leader: Dan Benton. We will install two posts and bolt four poles to them. Bring appropriate tools.
  3. Low stumping in Cienega PA – Eric Russell and Sam Beard. We will cut several stumps lower where we felled hazard trees last week.
  4. Hazard trees in Sulphur PA – Leader: Lou Romero. Lou will look for marked trees and remove flags from those that are green and/or not a hazard. We need someone with a GPS who can record the coordinates of these trees so that Russell Berman, SRD Trails Foreman, can remove these trees from his list of hazard trees.

Please let me know if you can bring a GPS and record these locations.

Meet at 8 a.m. at the FOSM Guard Station.

Bring lunch, hearing and eye protection, work gloves, and a hard hat. Wear slip-resistant boots, long pants, a long sleeve shirt, and a warm jacket. The mornings are still cool.

Sawyers and swampers working near chain saws are required to wear chaps.

Please email me if you have questions.
