Hello Everyone:
Today, Monday, May 10, 2021, the FOSM Trails Maintenance Crew hiked the Faulty Loop (Crest Trail 130/Faulty/Upper Faulty) to perform whatever work that was needed. As has been the case on other
trails, there were some small dead oak trees that were leaning across the trail and were starting to sink into headspace, particularly for those on horseback. There were not many and they were mostly in the one-inch diameter or so category. They were removed.
About three required the use of either a pruning or crosscut saw to remedy. The largest being just a bit over four inches in diameter. The crew also removed the ends of a couple of fallen branches that were on the ground and sticking out a bit onto the trail.
All pretty routine stuff this time.
These trails and trail sections are clear and in good shape. The morning was cool and as the day progressed things warmed up, particularly on the lower stretches of Crest Trail 130. The small
stream that feeds the Travertine Falls is now down to a little trickle.
Please see that attached Word document for photos and additional narrative. Photos by Silke Bletzer our newest crew member.
Today's crew consisted of Byron Garner, Silke Bletzer and Bob Lowder.
