Hello Volunteers,

We will be felling hazard trees in picnic areas on Wed., May 19.

There are 4 marked trees in Balsam Glade, but one is a 36-inch pine with several large branches intertwined with other tree branches. I do not think that we will fell that tree Wed. There are also 2 unmarked dead trees near Dry Camp restroom that could be felled.

Other options are to look for dead trees on the road to the Capulin bird log and lower restroom and in Nine Mile PA. We also have the tall tree near the highway that was flagged last year. We are not felling the marked trees at the Capulin snow play area, because the hazard tree training class is there Wednesday.

Meet at 8 a.m. at the FOSM Guard Station behind the Ranger Station.

Bring lunch, hearing and eye protection, work gloves, and a hard hat.
Wear slip-resistant boots, long pants, a long sleeve shirt, and a
warm jacket. The mornings are still cool.

Sawyers and swampers working near chain saws are required to wear
 chaps.

Please email me if you have questions.
