Hi Everyone,
Jeff Huser will be travelling this coming weekend, so Steve Roholt and I will be leading this week's Sandia Nordic trails work day, scheduled for Saturday, June 19th, weather permitting. We will meet at 8:00 AM at the 10K south parking lot and work until around noon. Work this week will focus on a couple of new reroutes above the 10K meadow. The plan is to remove brush, small trees and low branches from these sections to clear the way for Sam Beard and the FOSM sawyer team to cut the larger trees on a later date. Please bring your hand saw and or loppers if you have them. We will also have a few extras available.
We will be following the safety guidelines of the Sandia Ranger District including required personal protective equipment (PPE). PPE guidelines set by the Forest Service require everyone to wear hardhats, glasses or other protective eyewear, long-sleeved shirts, long pants, closed toe shoes or boots (not running shoes) and work gloves.
Trail workers needing a hard hat, will be given one of the official SNSC hardhats.
Please also make sure to bring sun protection/sunscreen, plenty of water and enough food/snacks for the 4 hour work period.
Please RSVP by Friday afternoon to Scott Dietrich at sandianordic@gmail.com, or text to 505-350-5233. Please provide your phone number with your RSVP just in case we have to postpone due to weather. Steve Roholt may also be reached at 505-321-8816 if needed.
Hope you can come on out and join the fun this Saturday!
Scott
