Hello Everyone,

This email announces FOSM projects on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 22 and 23.

  1. On Tuesday, June 22, volunteers will paint the fascia, exposed beams, and a door on one of the masonry restrooms at Oak Flat Reservation PA. We will work on one of the restrooms where we installed a metal roof earlier this year. We will be working at ground level, on short and medium step ladders, and on one extension ladder. Meet at 8 am at the FOSM Guard Station.

  1. On Wednesday, June 23, volunteers will be felling, limbing, and bucking trees on a rerouted segment of one of the Sandia Nordic Ski Club’s groomed trails near 10K South Trailhead . We will be using gasoline-powered chain saws until 10 am to fell the largest trees. We will continue working in the area for at least an hour to look for smoke. After 10 am we will be using battery-powered chain saws and other tools. If you own an electric chain saw and are willing for a certified sawyer to use it, please bring it to use to cut smaller trees and logs. Meet at 7:30 am at the FOSM Guard Station.

Wear long pants, a long sleeve shirt, and boots with slip-resistant soles. Bring lunch, snacks, drinks, eye and ear protection, and a hard hat.
