Hello Everyone,

On Wednesday, June 30, FOSM volunteers will buck and split some of the felled hazard tree wood in Balsam Glade PA. Kerry Wood felled a 12-inch fir and a 36-inch diameter pine hazard tree a few weeks ago in the lower part of this picnic area.

We will buck the logs with gasoline chain saws until 10 am, and, if necessary, buck smaller wood with battery-powered chain saws later (if anyone brings an electric saw). We will split rounds manually with steel wedges and sledge hammers.

Lou will be driving Joe Meade’s pickup, and we will have a second pickup, if Jerry Carroll brings his pickup. Lou has a permit for us to haul wood to the Church wood lot on the west side of NM-14. Lou will try to make arrangements on Monday for these deliveries.

I will cancel the work day on Tuesday, if the forecast is definitely for rain on the mountain on Wednesday.

Meet at 7:30 at the FOSM Guard Station to collect equipment. Wear long pants, a long sleeve shirt, and sturdy boots with slip-resistant soles. Bring a jacket, also, in the event we have a light shower. Bring lunch, snacks, eye and ear protection, drinks, work gloves, and a hard hat.
