Hello Everyone,

On Wednesday, July 7, FOSM volunteers will be felling several trees in the corridor of a new trail being cleared by the Sandia Nordic Ski Club. Kerry Wood planned the route of this trail, and SNSC members have removed brush and small trees. The trees we will fell are 12 inches in diameter and smaller.

We will be using gasoline chain saws until 10 am and will then use battery-powered chain saws. If you have an electric chain saw, please bring it.

The SNSC will be donating a battery-powered Husqvarna chain saw, two batteries, and a charger to FOSM in appreciation for the work we do on their trails and for our other work on the Sandia Ranger District. The bar length on this saw is 14 inches or 16 inches.

Meet at 7:30 at the FOSM Guard Station to collect equipment. Wear long pants, a long sleeve shirt, and sturdy boots with slip-resistant soles. Bring a jacket in the event we have a light shower. Bring lunch, snacks, eye and ear protection, drinks, work gloves, and a hard hat.

We will park at the Ellis Trailhead and work within a quarter-mile of the trailhead.
