Hello Everyone:
Yesterday, Monday, July 12, 2021, the FOSM Trail Maintenance Crew hiked from the Ellis parking lot, down Challenge trail to 10K North, out 10K North to Suvey Extension and then back to Ellis via Survey trail to remove reported and unreported hazrdous fallen,
hungup or leaning trees and to do other minor trail maintenance work as needed. By day's end, a total of thirteeen such trees or tree sections ranging in size from three to fifteen inches in diameter had been removed as follows; 10KN-seven, Survey Extension-three
and Survey-three. Two holes caused by fallen tree roots along the lower edges of Survey were filled in.
The day was cool and calm ealy with filtered sun, warming as usual later. Seen from a high vantage point in the early morning, a layer of clouds or fog appeared to be covering all the lower east mountain area to the east. Athough as always predicted for
this time of year, afternoon thunder showers never developed. The mountain remains green with more and more flowers popping up each week.
Yesterday's crew consisted of Bill Savage, David McCreery, Sim Cook, Silke Bletzer and Bob Lowder.
Please see attached Word document for photos and additional narrative.
Thanks,
Bob L.
