Hello Everyone:
This past Monday, September 20, 2021 the FOSM Trail Maintenance Crew hiked Acequia, Armijo, Faulty and half the crew hiked the lower section of Cienega on the return to remove a reported 19 1/2 inch diameter fallen tree blocking Faulty above Cole Spring
and to do any other maintenance needed. The crew hiked about 4 1/2 miles to reach the tree. It was located about a mile south of the Bart's trail junction. After two cuts, a section of the tree was removed and rolled off the trail. A crosscut saw and other
hand tools were used for this work.
According to an app on Jamey's phone, the crew hiked a total of 9.1 miles, gained/lost a total of 1,124 feet of elevation with an elapsed time in the field of 8 hours and 28 minutes. The morning was pleasant, but things got a bit warm on the return hike.
The calendar says autumn is here, but apparently, summer does not concur. Some of the trees are beginning to show signs of the yearly change. The mountain is starting to dry out a bit and some trails are getting dusty again.
Monday's crew consisted of Byron Garner, Rav Nicholson, Sim Cook, Sally Lowder, Ken Nicholson, Jamey Browning, Bill Savage and Bob Lowder.
