Visitor Notice of Sandia Crest Marathon
September 25th
Albuquerque, NM – September 22, 2021 – Sandia Ranger District
– A permitted running marathon will start on Saturday, September 25th
on the Sandia Ranger District along Crest Hwy 536. The Sandia Marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier. Participant and Spectator buses will be traveling to start locations throughout the early
morning. Highway 536 will be closed to the public beginning at 3 am to 11 am on September 25th. The event
coordinator will begin set up at the 10K South Trailhead parking area beginning on September 24 around 5 pm.
Full Marathon starts at 10K Trailhead off Hwy 536 at 6:30 am and finishes at Manzano Mesa Multi-Gen Center in SE Albuquerque.
Half Marathon starts at Snowline Rd & Hwy 14 at 7:00 am and finishes at Manzano Mesa Multi-Gen Center in SE Albuquerque.
We encourage visitors to avoid these areas during the morning of Saturday September 25th
and the associated trails and enjoy the multitude of trails available throughout the district.
We appreciate your support and understanding during this time. This event is permitted in cooperation by the Sandia Ranger District and the New Mexico
Department of Transportation. The Sandia Ranger District permits multiple events throughout the year.
