Offices Close on Monday October 11th
for the Federal Holiday
Columbus Day Holiday and Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Albuquerque, NM – October 7, 2021.  All Cibola National Forest and National Grasslands (NF & NGs) Supervisor and District Offices will be closed on Monday, October 11, 2021 for the Federal Holiday. The offices will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, October 12th.

Cibola NF & NGs anticipates a large number of visitors over the holiday weekend. Visit our website for tips on the best roads and trails to view the fall foliage, www.fs.usda.gov/recmain/cibola/recreation.

If you plan to visit, please follow "Leave No Trace" principles:

     Plan ahead and prepare

Travel and camp on durable surfaces

     Dispose of waste properly

     Leave what you find

     Minimize campfire impacts

     Respect wildlife

     Be considerate of other visitors

Know Before You Go to enjoy the Outdoors. Check the weather forecast and be prepared for seasonal fluctuations in temperatures and reduced daylight hours. Road conditions from recent monsoon rains or early winter conditions may require travelers to use extra caution or avoid passage. Use good judgment and basic safety precautions when hiking, camping or riding. Do not rely on cell phones for safety, because cell coverage may not be available in remote sections of the forest or grasslands. Although fire danger is decreased, campfire safety and prevention is always a priority.  Never leave a campfire unattended, and make sure coals are cold to the touch before leaving the area.
