Hello Everyone,
On Wed., Dec. 15, FOSM volunteers will be nailing blue diamonds on trees along the rerouted segment of Challenge Trail between Ellis TH and 10K South TH and on Challenge Extension from the Ski Area to Tree
Spring Trail.
It would be good to have at least six volunteers so that we can have two crews. Everyone will hike downhill. One crew will install diamonds for visitors going downhill, and the other will install diamonds
for visitors going uphill. One crew member will nail the diamonds to the trees, and another one will check the alignment of the diamond being nailed.
It would be helpful to have someone with a pole saw to cut branches on each crew. A sawyer with a small chain saw can cut any tree we find across the trails.
Meet at the FOSM Guard Station at 9:00 am (Note later time) on Wednesday, December 15.
Wear long pants, long sleeve shirt, and boots with slip-resistant soles. Dress warmly. The weather will be cold. Bring gloves, lunch, snacks, drinks, hard hat, and eye and ear protection. If you do not have
a hard hat, one will be provided.
There are a few inches of snow on the mountain. If you have tractor devices for your boots, please bring them. If the trails are packed and icy, it will be safer to walk with traction devices.
Please email me, if you have questions.
