Hello Everyone,
On Monday, Jan. 17, Byron Garner will lead the FOSM Trails Crew to remove the last eight down trees on Survey Trail that had many down trees on it this winter. Byron’s crew has removed all the down trees in
the wilderness area with crosscut saws.
On Wednesday, Jan. 19, the FOSM “Wednesday Crew” will begin removing the numerous down trees on 10K North Trail. We have not gotten an accurate count of the number of trees down on this trail.
We will use chain saws, including the Husqvarna battery-powered chain saw that the Sandia Nordic Ski Club donated to FOSM. We will also use hand tools like cant hooks. Bring your favorite tool for this type
of work.
Meet at 9 am at the FOSM Guard Station behind the ranger station.
Wear warm clothes and boots with slip-resistant soles. Bring snowshoes, warm work gloves, eye and ear protection, hard hat, lunch, snacks, and drinks.
If any recent hikers on this trail have information about the number, locations, and sizes of the down trees, please email the information to me at samgbeard@msn.com.
