Matt Thompson, an avid ultra-distance runner who competes across the country, has enjoyed the expansive and challenging Sandia Mountains trail network for four years while stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base. Before moving to his next assignment later this summer, Matt wants to pay tribute to the trails he has enjoyed so much by giving back through a bold endeavor he calls the Watermelon 100 Project. 

Matt has chosen Friends of the Sandia Mountains as recipient of ALL funds raised in recognition of our work in support of the Forest Service in building and maintaining the trail system.
