Four weeks from tonight, Matt Thompson will embark on an arduous trek that I for one have trouble wrapping my head around—over 100 miles running and walking in the Sandias while gaining more than 30,000 feet of elevation, and all to be done in one weekend!

Matt's grand endeavor, which he calls the Watermelon 100 Project, already has raised over $3,200 for FOSM, and this could go much higher with the publicity that Lou Romero is arranging. You can access the GoFundMe account at:

In addition to being a patriot, a superhuman runner, and an all-around great guy, Matt is an accomplished moviemaker as evidenced by the short video he created introducing the project and explaining his choice of FOSM as the recipient of the funds raised:

Matt is interviewing several FOSM members as a part of his plan to create a video tribute to the Sandia trails. You can find these interviews as well his frequent updates on the project at:

You can find these links and follow the project by bookmarking the webpage Silke Bletzer has created at:

We are awed by Matt's ambition, grateful for his generosity, and honored by his choice of FOSM to represent the many organizations and individuals who help make our mountains so enjoyable. Please help by sharing these links with your friends and colleagues.

Thanks,
