Hello Everyone,

On Wednesday, May 4, FOSM volunteers will be hauling fuel wood from the upper Cienega PA parking lot to the Mountain Christian Church Wood Ministry wood lot west of NM-14.

We need as many volunteers as possible to complete the following tasks: splitting wood with Lou’s power splitter, loading wheel barrows, pushing wheel barrows from Cienega Spring to the parking lot, and loading Joe Meade’s trailer and truck. The Meade family will be working with us – Joe, Jory, and Tami.

A sawyer and swamper will be bucking four 18-24-inch diameter logs several feet long between the lower two restrooms. They will also be loaded on the truck or trailer.

Meet at 7:45 at the FOSM Guard Station behind the ranger station. Wear long pants, a long sleeve shirt, and sturdy boots with slip-resistant soles. Bring a hard hat, ear and eye protection, work gloves, snacks, lunch, and drinks. If you do not have a hard hat, one will be provided.

Under Stage 2 Fire Restrictions, we can operate the power splitter and chain saw only until 10 am. At least one person, must remain at the work site an hour after an engine is used to check for fire.

Please let me know if you can bring a large contractor wheel barrow to use to move the split wood.

The gate at the top of the hill on Cienega Road will probably be locked; therefore, please be on time.
