Matt Thompson succeeded in his amazing Watermelon 100 Project—a 100-mile trek up, down, and around the Sandias—raising almost $9,000 for FOSM in the process. With the aim of encouraging more people to discover the unique Sandia trail system, Matt has created a 40-minute movie summarizing his adventure and the reasons he chose FOSM as the beneficiary of the proceeds. He is offering FOSM members the opportunity to see the movie before it becomes publicly available on YouTube.

Matt interviewed several FOSM members as well as Kerry Wood during preparations for his trek. I haven’t seen the movie, but I can guess from the graphic he created that it will focus on the fact that we have a treasure in our backyards.

You are invited to the showing to be held Thursday, July 14, at 7 PM at the Manzano Mesa Multi-generational Center at 501 Elizabeth St. SE.

Please let me know by Monday evening if you plan to attend so we have the appropriate number of chairs ready.

We look forward to seeing you next Thursday evening as we enjoy Matt’s artistic creation, thank him once again for his efforts on our behalf, and bid him a fond farewell.
