Hello Everyone:

Yesterday, the FOSM Trails Maintenance Crew hiked Crest Trail 130 North, Survey Trail and portions of Switchback and 10K North trails to remove previously reported fallen trees and to do other work as needed. By day's end ten trees, ranging in size from three to seventeen inches in diameter had been removed. In addition to removal of the fallen trees, there was considerable remediation work which included removing tripping hazards, cutting back protruding branches and some trail tread repair. The crew also discovered a large widowmaker which is suspended some twenty feet over Survey trail about 900 feet north of the power lines. (Please see separate CTR report for details.)

The day began relatively cool, but as is common this time of year warmed up considerably as the day progressed. While it would have been welcome, there was very little breeze. The forest is green and the flowers doing well. Of course, more rain will be welcome.

Yesterday's crew consisted of Byron Garner, Jerry Pekarek, David McCreery, Cleve Sharp, Jamey Browning and Bob Lowder.

Please see attached Word file for photos and additional narrative. All photos by Jamey Browning.

Thanks,
