Hello Everyone,

On Wednesday, January 11, FOSM volunteers will prune parts of Tramway Trail between the lower Tram terminal and La Luz Trail. We will be using loppers and pruning saws.

Kerry Wood’s pruning specifications:

“In terms of work specification, I’d like to see all vegetation on the uphill side of the trail that you can touch with your hand (arm extended) removed. On the downhill side anything you can touch with your elbow (hope that makes sense). Where possible, throw the cut material as far off the trail as possible. Do not leave any stumps/pongee sticks. Don’t be shy removing vegetation, it will surly grow back!”

Meet at 9 am at the restroom in La Cueva Picnic Area where we installed a metal roof a few months ago. We will hike La Cueva Trail to Tramway Trail. If we have enough volunteers for two crews, Dan Benton will lead one crew and Sam Beard will lead the other crew.

Wear warm clothes and sturdy boots with slip-resistant soles. Bring lunch, drinks, snacks, work gloves, personal tools, hard hat, and eye protection.
