Hello Everyone:

Yesterday, Monday, January 9, 2023, the FOSM Trail Maintenance crew hiked a re-routed section of the snowshoe race course to clear obstacles from the trail and to do some high limbing. Some of the branches along this route would likely sag down into racers headspace if there was fresh snow close to the day of the race. After this work was completed, the crew hiked Gravel Pit trail to remove a previously reported fallen tree. That tree was partially buried in snow but still posed a hazard to users. It was removed. There is also a quite unusual group of three fallen trees adjacent to Gravel Pit trail.  These can be seen in the attached photos. After lunch, the crew hiked back to the starting point at the Ellis parking lot via Rocky Point trail. These trails and trail section are now clear.

The day was mostly clear, slightly brisk and with a light breeze. The snow was in good shape along the trails hiked that day, with no protruding rocks or bare spots.

Yesterday's crew consisted of Jamey Browning, Jerry Pekarek, Jenny Blackmore, David McCreery, Byron Garner, Phil Cromer and Bob Lowder. Please see attached Word file for photos and additional narrative. All photos by Jamey Browning, Jenny Blackmore and Bob Lowder.

Thanks,

Bob L.
