The FOSM project on Wed., May 17, will be continuing the pruning of Tramway Trail that was started last fall. We will be working with manual tools north of  the junction with La Cueva Trail east of La Cueva Picnic Area.

Meet at 8:30 am at the restroom in La Cueva PA. We will hike up La Cueva Trail to Tramway Trail and then hike to the north to where we stopped pruning last fall. Wear long pants, a long sleeve shirt, and boots with slip-resistant soles. Bring work gloves, hard hat, lunch, snacks, sun glasses, and drinks.

Long handle loppers and Silky pruning saws will be provided, but you may bring your favorite pruning tool.

Hi Sam,

Filming will be occurring from Capulin to 10K tomorrow. The road will be closed for a period of time so there is to be not cutting on the mountain tomorrow so it does not interfere with the filming permit.

The trees in Ellis Trailhead and 10K Trailhead do not pose a threat to the public that is recreating in the area around the parking lot. Standing trees should not be cut on a trail unless there is an interpretive sign or feature that we directs the public to stop and view.

The trees at the Crest need to be examined closer by the staff to determine if they need to be cut.

The trees at Nine Mile Picnic Area will be cut by Fire at the SRD so they can get more saw time for there employees.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Antonio S. Garcia
