Strategy: The strategy for the 10K Fire is full suppression. Along with felling hazard trees within the fire area, firefighters also worked today to secure all fire lines and spot fires as well as mop-up within the fire area.
Smoke may continue to popup occasionally within the fire perimeter. Fire personnel will continue mop-up and extinguishing all hotspots.
Safety: The health and safety of firefighters and the public are always the first priority.
Drones pose a serious risk to firefighting and can cause air operations to cease. The public is always reminded that “If you fly, we can’t!”
This will be the final update on the 10K fire unless the fire situation warrants additional correspondence.
All fire updates will be posted on the Cibola NF & NGs website, New Mexico Fire Information website, and the Cibola NF & NGs Facebook & Twitter pages.
