Hello everyone,
I have some joyful news that I finally made it to the top of Cienega today and did a bit of work with my new Fiskar machete/saw combo tool.
Except for a few loose rocks (of course, what else could I expect on a granite mountain), the only item needing attention was a fallen tree that was slightly above my waist height (I'm 6'2" tall).
On my way up I broke some dangerous branches and on the way down I tested the new tool. I managed to cut a nice slice and move both pieces of the trunk to a new home on the sides of the trail.
Reading and seeing the work of other members has inpired me to do what little I can here and there on the trails. I'm hoping to hike more and contribute more :)
*Another hiker said the tree wasn't there two weeks or so ago, and it wasn't there 13 days ago when I came close to the summit.
