Hello FOSM people,

Last Thursday the trail construction crew planned an ambitious (and ultimately successful) day. As many of you know, the Forest Service has been working for a couple-three years on an extensive reroute along the 10K North Trail, started by a crew from the SRD, with FOSM crews taking over later in the process. Finishing the project has been thwarted by a lack of trails staff on the SRD and, last October, by an unexpected early snow after just one FOSM workday. Last week the FOSM trail builders performed much-needed finish work along the entire stretch of the realignment, and made the connections at both its north and south ends. Yes, this means the new alignment is open! Cibola NF Trails & Wilderness Manager Russell Berman (with two CNF interns) was present to pin-flag the two connections before leaving to scout some upcoming work along the Osha Loop.
