Hello Everyone:
Today, Monday, January 29, 2024, the FOSM Trails Maintenance Crew hiked the majority of Capulin Peak trail to remove two previously reported fallen trees and to do other maintenance work as needed. The two fallen trees, ten
and twelve inches in diameter, were removed along with a three inch diameter broken live branch, part of which was protruding into the trail. Silky-type folding saws and other hand tools were used for this work. A bit of minor brushing was also done. Although
the day began at twenty-one degrees at the Ranger Station meeting location, a sunny day with little or no wind made for pleasant winter working conditions out on the mountain. Snow conditions varied, but although there were no true bare spots, the snow was
thin in a couple of small areas. The remainder of the trail provided a pleasant snowshoe hike.
Today's crew consisted of Byron Garner, Rav Nicholson, Ken Wilson, John Cooper, David McCreery, Susan Gregory, Jamey Browning, Bill Perkins and Bob Lowder.
Please see attached Word document for photos and additional narrative. Photos by Jamey Browning, Bob Lowder and David McCreery.
Thanks,
